We are coming close to the end of our Bullying Prevention Session October Tour and we are delighted to hear so many great comments about it. Here you can see some of the feedback we have received so far about these shows:

“The children and school personnel really enjoyed today. Cyclone was the word of the day in the staffroom and the school yard. We are working already to implement the suggestions. I will email you with some pictures and details when the strategies are being rolled in. Thanks again”
– Niall O Sullivan, Secondary School Teacher, Glanmire, Cork

“I think the workshop went very well and they found it very beneficial. Thanks and regards”– Emily Lewis, Secondary School Teacher,  Cork City

“We very much enjoyed your show and all the teachers had positive things to say about it afterwards. It was a very effective workshop for getting the message across to the students and staff about the types of bullying and how to confront it. Many thanks again”

–  Mairéad Uí Chárthaigh, Primary School Teacher,  Cork County

“Feedback was extremely positive and students were more confident about identifying bullying behaviour. Thanks again”– Maeve Keane, Secondary School Teacher, Cork County

Our Bullying Prevention Session Tour (Secondary and Primary) is starting this Monday 28th and we are delighted to have so many schools interested in the show! Cyclone Rep has been busy this last year establishing connections with different organizations and groups nationwide who work raising awareness and curbing the effects of Bullying in schools.
Find here below an account from a member of one of these organizations who participated in one of ours sessions last season:
“My name is Joe Curtin & I’m a Youth Worker with Youth Work Ireland Cork for the Gurranabraher/Churchfield area, on the north-side of Cork City. I work in collaboration with the HSE/HAZ on a Mental Health programme (Mind Your Head) for young people which we deliver in secondary schools in the area. Cyclone Rep came on board to deliver their Bullying Prevention Session to students in one of these schools. I was asked to participate in this by having a table at the session. My role was to provide information about groups and supports for these young people that might have been effected by an issue highlighted in the play. This proved to be successful as I was since invited back to the school to give a more detailed talk on what services I provide. This success was magnified when 5 young people from that school signed up to complete their practical achievement award, as part of the LCA programme, with me at a Teen Gym group I operate. This may not have been possible if it was not for the partnership between Cyclone Rep/HAZ/YWIC.”

Cyclone Rep Theatre Company and Theatre Development Centre (TDC)
are delighted to present

The Hamlet Session Showcase

Hamlet 2015 low

The Hamlet Session is Cyclone Rep’s newest production. It combines outstanding performances, engaging analysis, humour and audience interaction.  This show – in common with all Cyclone’s Shakespeare Sessions – aims to facilitate learners in their appreciation of the play as well as in their preparation for exams.

During the showcase you will watch and experience extracts from this, our latest show. The original Hamlet Session was Cyclone Rep’s first Session play and started the buzz about this new and exciting approach to Shakespeare back in 2010.

Come see what the fuss is about! To be – or not to be – there?  That is the question!

When?: Friday 18th of September

Where?: At the Theatre Development Centre, Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin St. Cork

What times?: There will be three showcases during the night: 7pm, 8pm and 9pm

How long?: Each showcase is approximately 30min.

Youth Mental Health Conference pic1

Maev O’Shea, Cyclone Rep’s Sales & Marketing Manager at the ACAMH (Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health) Symposium on World Mental Health Day Friday, 10th October 2014 at the County Hall Cork.

The symposium was a one-day national research conference co-hosted by the ACAMH, the Inspire Ireland Foundation and the National Suicide Research Foundation.

The conference was opened by Kathleen Lynch T.D., Minister for Primary Care, Social Care (Disability/Older People) and Mental Health.  The Keynote Address was from Professor Swaran Singh on ‘Transistions in Adolescence: Continuity and Change’.

The conference brought together researchers, clinicians, policy-makers and others who care for and work with adolescents and young adults.  The conference was an opportunity to:

1 – Showcase the latest research and innovation in the area of youth mental health

2 – Address the multiple transitions (mental health, developmental, social, psychological and service transitions) faced by young people

3 – Draw together a multi-disciplinary audience across specialties and services

4 – Highlight the role young people can and do play in promoting good policy and practice in mental health
