WHAT’S THE KING LEAR SESSION ONLINE?

King Lear: Not Just Business as Usual is set in the world of finance. King Lear is upsetting the natural order of business by dividing his corporation between his daughters. He wants to have a blissful retirement while his daughters care for his every whim. However, Lear’s retirement doesn’t go according to plan. He is confronted by jealous daughters Goneril and Regan, his failings as king are exposed, and madness ensues as he is cast out - learning what it is to be homeless. In tandem with the action of key scenes, Director Peadar Donohoe and Actor Marcus Bale discuss the major themes of the play to aid students in their understanding of Shakespeare’s great tragedy.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The King Lear Session Online comprises three 35-40 minute webinars. Together with access to the three sessions, teachers will receive a Resource Handout to use with their students. The Resource Handout is designed to help students fulfil their curriculum. It reviews major points presented in all the Webinars and provides supplementary exercises that teachers can use with their students if they wish.

The whole experience works brilliantly as a continuous assessment to evaluate students' interaction with the text and is designed to work as well from school or remotely.

RECORDING ACCESS DETAILS

All recorded performances are uploaded to our website. Groups experiencing the Session will be sent a link and a password to access the webinars. Please note that passwords are valid for one week (Monday to Friday). With the purchase of the ticket, you gain access to the webinars on a week of your choice twice in the year. This allows you to see the webinars once and later on (maybe closer to the exams) to access them again for revision.

RECOMMENDED SETUP FOR THE SESSION

The recommended set-up for The King Lear Session Online is that of a classroom or hall with a computer and projector so that the whole student group can experience the webinar together. Alternatively, the webinars can be accessed on individual devices from school. If this is not possible, students can also gain access from home.
